For this time, once again, I kinda just picked some random tracks from my library that I haven’t heard from awhile. None of them are incredibly hard or funky this week … I decided to go for a (slightly) softer overall feel.
And with that … here we go! Week #13!
Spanish Jitters (Jungle Jitter) – Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA)
ReMixers – David Wise feat. Robin Beanland, Level 99, Daniel Rosenqvist, Harmony, bustatunez, zykO, JJT, OA, prophetik, Diggi Dis
Album – Donkey Kong Country 3: Double the Trouble!
This track has a fun mix of background synths, acoustic guitar, and flute. There’s also a very distinct bass and quite a bit of saxophone/brass at points. They do a good job of spicing up the original tune and adding in little interlude sections too. If you’ve ever played on the Jungle Japes stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee (man, I hate that stage), you should recognize the music!
Fushigina Forest (Forest) – A Link to the Past
ReMixer – Laura Shigihara
Album – 25 Year Legend: A Legend of Zelda Indie Game Composer Tribute
Here’s a very nice piano solo for you. I love the mood it sets … soft and thoughtful. Honestly, my only real complaint about this one is that it’s not long enough for my tastes!
The Sound of Speed (Green Hill Zone) – Sonic the Hedgehog
ReMixers – OA, Scaredsim
Album – The Sound of Speed
I’ve found that the source tracks from the original Sonic the Hedgehog game are some of the hardest to find good remixes of … and I don’t know why. Something about it just isn’t as catchy, perhaps? Who knows.
Which is why it’s so nice when you actually find a remix from that game that is really well done! This track has a great sound, does a good job delivering the original source tune, and also comes up with some great accompanying melodies later on to shake things up!
And that’s all for this week … hope you enjoyed them all! Like and comment below if you have any thoughts or suggestions!
